Get Social!

Did you know:

  • More than 800 million people use Facebook;
  • More than 100 million people use Twitter; and
  • More than 100 million people have profiles on LinkedIn?

How many of those users are CPAs? According to Twellow, the Twitter Yellow Pages, there are 35,600 twitter accounts that are related to accounting. Google Blog search results for the term CPA revealed more 1 million blogs and a LinkedIn search found more than 290,000 results for the term CPA.

The numbers show that CPAs are using social media. Are you one of them?

At Schneider Down, some of our professionals are using social media to research accounting-related topics like PCOAB, IFRS and FASB. Our marketing department is monitoring what’s going on in the accounting industry, listening to our followers and friends and posting about upcoming events. Our Human Resources department is using social media to communicate our recruiter’s schedules and showing off photos from firm events. It’s a tremendous resource for Schneider Downs.

Now that you know how we use social media, we want to know how you use social media.

More formally, we’re giving the attendees at our December CPE session in Pittsburgh a chance to talk about social media with other finance and accounting professionals. It will be an interactive discussion with the audience as the guide. Attendees can ask questions, share stories and learn from others in the room about social media. We can’t promise that there won’t be a few PowerPoint slides, but we can promise that we won’t lecture you. This session is for you, the audience.

If you can’t be at the CPE program, you can follow the discussion on Twitter. Search for the hashtag #SDCPE11. Feel free to say hello or chime in with your thoughts.

Please join us on December 8 for the Pittsburgh CPE Seminar. We’re looking forward to learning from you.
