Starting as an intern with Schneider Downs, I had many misconceptions about my internship that I am happy to have been proven wrong. Coming into this summer, I fully expected (even though I was told otherwise) to be fetching coffee, copying papers and forms, and aiding on a few simple tasks. My experience at Schneider Downs has been far from that, and I could not be more thankful. I did not spend my summer in my cubicle by myself. I spent my weeks here in the field actually partaking in audit procedures and interacting with clients. This was a far stretch from what I imagined. I have felt a part of the “bigger picture” of Schneider Downs.

In addition to the hands-on experience, another pleasant surprise also awaited me this summer. The employees of Schneider Downs are some of the most helpful and patient people I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with. I have asked countless questions throughout the summer, and everyone has been there to eagerly provide an answer to me. Everyone here has made my internship experience a great opportunity and a professional learning and growing experience.

As I return to campus in a few weeks, I will take my experience here and use it to better myself in both the classroom and professionally. Although my internship was only a few short weeks, I have gained the experience of a lifetime.
