Ice cream has been a household word in the Dager family for nearly a century.

Mark your calendar and join Luconda Dager, President, Andre Dager-Sarap, Vice President of Guest Relations and Joanne Dager-Sheehan, Vice President of Food Service, Velvet Ice Cream, to hear about their sweet stories of success. Together, they lead 125 employees and produce more than six million gallons of ice cream each year.

The sisters are the fourth generation to bring their own flavor of leadership to Velvet Ice Cream - one of the tastiest businesses in Central Ohio.

Luconda Dager, President
Two Scoops Story: Succession Planning and Leadership Styles
Luconda Dager is the president of the Velvet Ice Cream Company and the fourth generation of her family to lead the Utica, Ohio ice cream manufacturer. Luconda oversees all aspects of Velvet, which has 125 employees and produces more than six million gallons of ice cream each year. Luconda directs the company's sales and marketing strategies, and services the company's major grocery accounts, such as Kroger, Meijer and Giant Eagle. Before joining the family business in 1994, Luconda spent three years in New York City working in the retail clothing industry.

She is a board member for The Works, an historical museum and technical learning center in Newark, Ohio, the Ohio Grocers Association, the Midwest Dairy Foods Association, and the Knox County Convention and Visitors Bureau. In 2007, Luconda was named to the Columbus Business First "Forty Under Forty" list of influential business leaders. She was recently elected to the YPO. Luconda earned a bachelor's degree in 1991 from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Luconda and her husband, Bill, live in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and have a six-year-old daughter, Lauren.

Andre Dager-Sarap, Vice President of Guest Relations
Sweet Story: History of Velvet Ice Cream
Andre Dager-Sarap is the vice president of guest relations for the Velvet Ice Cream Company and a member of the fourth generation of her family to lead the Utica, Ohio ice cream manufacturer. Following graduation from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in 1998, where she earned a bachelor's degree in business administration, Andre worked a year at the Knox County Chamber of Commerce before joining the family business. She worked in sales for a while before settling in to Velvet's "destination" business. She oversees operation of Velvet's famed tourist attraction, Ye Olde Mill, which houses an old fashioned ice cream parlor, restaurant, gift shop, and Ohio's only ice cream museum.

Andre was a member of the board of the Licking County Convention and Visitors Bureau for eight years. She and her husband, Mike, live in Granville, Ohio, and have four children: Justin, 19; Devon, 16; Michael, 7; and Amelia, 6.

Joanne Dager-Sheehan, Vice President of Food Service
A la Mode Story: Successes and Challenges Along the Way
Joanne Dager-Sheehan is the vice president of food service of the Velvet Ice Cream Company and a member of the fourth generation of her family to lead the Utica, Ohio ice cream manufacturer. Joanne oversees Velvet's food service division, which supplies bulk ice cream to schools, hospitals, restaurants and other large vendors. She works closely with such notable customers as Bob Evans Restaurants, Max & Erma's, and Frisch's Big Boy.

Following graduation from Xavier University in 1995, where she earned a bachelors degree in communications, Joanne was the general manager of the Plaza 600 restaurant in Cincinnati for four years. She joined the sales staff of Abbott Foods in 1999, where she worked for four years. Joanne was employed by U.S. Foods for one year before joining Velvet in 2004 to head up the food service division. Joanne and her husband, Tom, live in Gahanna, Ohio, with their children, Riley, 7, and Megan, 5.
