The New Horizon: Nonprofits Post-Sarbanes-Oxley

When: June 14, 2012 12:00AM

The New Horizon

It’s hard to imagine the significant impact that any one piece or pieces of legislation will have on a particular sector. Similarly, it’s hard to articulate the many contributions any one person makes to a community, an organization or in the lives of others.

Join us as we review the impact that the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and Pension Protection Act of 2006 had on shaping the new nonprofit. We will discuss legislative and regulatory impacts on the nonprofit sector and its collective mission including: the evolution of the Nonprofit Board of Directors and its relationship with management and independent auditors; the organization’s policy setting and transparency; increased scrutiny by the Internal Revenue Service and various government agencies; and the expectations for governing a nonprofit organization in the future.
