Eugene J. Logan CPA

Gene has nearly 30 years of public accounting experience, which includes more than 24 years in tax services for a large regional certified public accounting firm based in Western Pennsylvania. He has significant experience with closely-held companies in various industries.  His client base includes businesses in the manufacturing, energy, construction and investment related industries.

Gene also has extensive experience with nonprofit industry.  Providing business, tax and consulting services to more than 150 non-for-profit clients.  He has worked with religious organizations, arts and cultural organizations, civic organizations, business and professional associations and private foundations.  Areas of expertise include tax exempt status, public charity status vs private foundation, planning associated with for profit ventures, compensation and private inurement issues, UBTI Planning, charitable trusts and estate planning.

Gene uses the firm’s core strengths as certified public accountants and business advisors to help companies develop approaches and practices that lead to increased profitability and growth. He has extensive experience with a full range of tax and business consulting services including the following: tax planning and compliance; establishing or revising organizational structure; tax implications of mergers, acquisitions and dispositions; reorganizations under partnerships and S Corporation statutes; state and local tax issues, including sales and use; multi-state planning, including nexus determination; business and individual tax planning and consulting; and business succession and estate planning.

I love to travel, including collecting “cancellation stamps” from national parks, national historic sites and national monuments.

I wanted to be a big league baseball player (I should add that I had virtually no skill in this area, however)

What was your first job?
I washed dishes in my parents’ restaurant, the Durango Restaurant in Evans City

Do you have a “motto?”
I have two bumper stickers that speak to me: “Mean people suck” and “Blow up your TV”

Do you have advice for young professionals?
Find balance…too much work is no fun, but work can be fun and rewarding, too.
