Nicholas D. Lombardo CPA

Nick joined the firm in 2004 and has over 18 years of experience in public accounting.  He possesses extensive experience with advisory services, Sarbanes-Oxley procedures, audits, reviews and compilations.  Nick is committed to providing the highest level of quality accounting services to a broad range of medium to large public and private companies.


Nick serves a diversified number of retail, manufacturing, construction, real estate, technology, ERISA, professional service and natural resources clients.  He is a member of various Schneider Downs internal groups, including the retail industry group, the public company services group and the firms Assurance Technical Advisory Committee (ATAC), where he is engaged in the resolution of complex accounting, auditing and business-related issues.

Additionally, Nick is a leader for the firm’s accounting advisory services practice in which he consults with companies on various technical accounting topics and challenges. He works closely with his clients to understand their unique business and challenges, so that he can offer practical advice and solutions to help his client base achieve their long-term goals and objectives.  Nick is one of the firm’s subject-matter experts on navigating the new revenue recognition accounting standards. He has also authored a number of technical accounting publications and is a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars within the region.

Do you have a hobby/personal passion?
Watching movies and sports and playing games with my family.

What was your childhood dream?
To become a professional Athlete.After that didn’t work, I wanted to be a sports broadcaster….Since I am still waiting for that to happen, I just watch a lot of sports.

What is the best or most interesting thing about your career?
Every day is different!  I get to interact with so many different owners and executives on a daily basis and seeing how different companies operate is very interesting. 

What was your first job?
I was a dishwasher at a local restaurant.

Do you have a "motto"? (spoken or unspoken)
Something I have told my kids since they were very young is that life is all about choices, try to make the best choices you can and make the best out of the bad ones.

When you have an hour of free time, what do you like to do?
I like to spend free time with my family doing different things like playing games, watching movies, hiking, fishing and just spending time together as a family.

Do you have advice for young professionals?
Use the first few years of your career to learn as much as you can and get exposed to as many different situations as you can as it will help you later in your career.  Just take it all in like a sponge!
