Rewind: Schneider Downs Energy and Natural Resources Industry Group 2017 Recap

Schneider Downs’ Energy and Natural Resources Industry Group provides specialized financial advice and services to our clients in the oil and gas, mining and aggregates, forest products, and alternative fuel and energy industries. Our Energy and Natural Resources Group is specifically focused on your industry, and our advisors are experienced in your operating environment.

Throughout the year, members within the industry group attended events and seminars related to the industries to keep current on technical knowledge and trends and to provide clients with the most up-to-date insights. In 2017, our professionals attended local and national conferences and seminars sponsored by organizations including:

  1. American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
  2. Professional Development Institute
  3. Marcellus Shale Coalition
  4. Pennsylvania Independent Oil and Gas Association
  5. Ohio Oil and Gas Association
  6. Council of Petroleum Accountants Societies

In addition to attending local, regional and national seminars, our professionals spoke at seminars and various events throughout the region.

Our professionals use the knowledge obtained from conferences, seminars and publications within the industries to write commentaries on topics ranging from legislation changes to operational challenges that will impact companies within the industries. During 2017, we wrote 26 energy-specific articles published through the Schneider Downs Our Thoughts On blog to provide insight on current matters and help companies navigate issues.

In December, Schneider Downs held an internal Energy and Natural Resources Industry Update, a day-long event that covered topics including the general state of the industries, issues surrounding depreciation, depletion and amortization (DD&A) and property, impairment, asset retirement obligation and asset abandonment. The event was capped by a discussion from featured speaker David J. Spigelmyer, President of the Marcellus Shale Coalition. This investment in our employees’ knowledge ensures that they are up-to-date on current trends and topics within the industries and can fully assist clients when they are working on engagements.

With offices in Pittsburgh and Columbus, the Schneider Downs Energy and Natural Resources Energy Group is available to discuss industry issues at your convenience.
