We have learned much from the events that have occurred in Washington DC over the past several weeks regarding the potential path that our country might be heading. However, one might not know that across the Potomac River, at the Gaylord Convention Center in National Harbor, MD, there were other lessons being learned regarding the path of the automotive industry by our Schneider Downs Auto Dealer Advisors at the 2013 AICPA National Auto Dealership Conference.
The National Auto Dealership Conference consists of CPAs, dealership professionals, CFOs, CEOs, controllers, and auto manufacturers that convene to discuss the hot financial and operating topics currently facing the automotive industry. These topics consist of IRS updates, industry outlooks, dealership best practices, mergers and acquisitions considerations, controllers’ recommendations, and other helpful information.
We had a total of five members from our advisory team attend the conference. As you can see, we find this conference very valuable. Schneider Downs’ director of auto dealer advisors, Henry Szymanski, led the group into Washington. Bob Bandi, Steve Barber, and Jackie Emert were present from our tax group, and we also had first-time attendee Jason Pierce join us from the audit department.
Stay tuned for future “Insights” from our auto dealer advisors regarding the topics that were discussed in Washington (other than the debt ceiling increase).
