The Master Builders’ Association of Western Pennsylvania (@MBAof WPA) recently hosted a social media roundtable and panel discussion for its members and affiliate members. The roundtable and panel discussion were the culmination of efforts by an MBA task force charged with determining the social media needs of members.
Led by Jon O’Brien, Director of Communications at the MBA, the task force created and distributed a social media survey to members. The survey results indicated that MBA members wanted to know more about social media and how to use it for business purposes.
I served on the panel with Patty Swisher, Director of Marketing at IKM Inc.; Ron Kubitz, HR and Recruiting Manager at Brayman Construction; and Jane Lewis Volk, an attorney at Meyer Unkovic+Scott. The audience had great questions and insights, and I left with a page of notes about different social media apps and Facebook pages to check out. Jon also posted a fantastic list of social media resources on the MBA’s website.
With the success of the roundtable, the MBA has decided to host subsequent meetings about specific social networks, including LinkedIn and Twitter. If you can’t attend one of the meetings, have questions or want to discuss social media, check out the roundtable spin-off conversation on LinkedIn.
