OUR THOUGHTS ON:

Postcards from the PACB Convention

Schneider Downs|Financial Services

By Dan Desko

Schneider Downs recently attended the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers (PACB) 135th annual convention in Vail, Colorado. Schneider Downs was a major exhibitor in the exhibit hall and hundreds of PA community bankers and their families were on hand to come say hello and learn more about the 80 plus services that Schneider Downs has to offer. The Schneider Downs convention team consisted of Jim Yard (Shareholder), Eric Wright (Shareholder), Steve Thompson (Shareholder) and Dan Desko (Manager).

Eric Wright was a speaker during the convention’s education sessions and he presented on the Top 10 IT Controls Every Financial Institution should have. A number of PA community bankers attended Eric’s presentation to listen to him speak and give examples of new regulations and controls to consider in the industry.

There were numerous other educational sessions and general sessions with plenty of learning opportunities to be had. Every topic from Dodd-Frank to Securities Fraud was examined in depth; however, that didn’t mean the bankers and exhibitors couldn’t have a little fun in their free time. The PACB left the exhibitors and attendees free time to enjoy and take in the spectacular scenery, mountain biking, golfing, hiking and swimming. Our team captured the below picture from the top of Vail Mountain (10,000 ft elevation) on an early morning hike before opening the exhibition booth later that day. And who said bankers and accountants are boring?
