Pittsburgh Hosts 5th Annual Great Lakes Capital Connection Conference

On September 10-11, 2013, the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) Capital Connection hosted its 5th annual Great Lakes Capital Connection Conference in Pittsburgh for the very first time. The event brought together ACG chapters from Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Detroit, Indiana, Pittsburgh, and Western Michigan. More than 850 M&A professionals came together in PNC Park for deal-sourcing opportunities, networking and insights into industry trends.

The first day of the conference featured a DealSource event, designed to connect sell-side investment banks with equity investors. At this event, Schneider Downs met with 27 private equity investors.

The second day of the conference featured two panel discussions and the Capital Connection. The first panel, “Fostering an Entrepreneurial Culture within a Large Organization” featured business leaders from Mine Safety Appliances, Wabtec Corporation, Sewickley Capital Partners and Polyconcept North America. The second panel, “M&A Opportunities within the Marcellus & Utica” featured business leaders from Tradition Energy, KeyBanc Capital Markets, Wells Fargo Energy Group, Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney and CONSOL Energy. The Capital Connection showcased private equity firms and mezzanine lenders from across the U.S. After lunch, Lou Holtz, one of the most successful college football coaches of all time, provided a motivational closing speech.
