Pennsylvania Issues Guidance on Filing of Forms W-2 and 1099

To assist employers in complying with its new W-2/1099 filing requirements, the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue released the 2018 W-2 and 1099 Employer Withholding Reporting Instructions and Specifications Handbook.

The Handbook addresses topics such as filing requirements, due dates, electronic filing options and file specifications. The Handbook also includes lists of frequently asked questions and tips to avoid common errors.

Please be advised that from December 17, 2018 through January 2, 2019, the Department will institute a blackout period during which W-2/1099 information cannot be uploaded in e-TIDES. When the system becomes available on January 3, 2019, employer files will not be accepted under the old format.

Please contact our State and Local Tax team if you have any questions concerning your W-2/1099 filing responsibilities.
