110 slices of French Toast
An endless supply of pancakes…
Are these the offerings of the latest diner to arrive in Pittsburgh’s fabled Strip District? Hardly. The scene was actually Schneider Downs, where members of the administrative team cooked a hot breakfast for the more than 110 professionals on Saturday, March 26.
The Pancake Breakfast is an annual tradition at Schneider Downs, where Saturday hours are commonplace during accounting’s traditional “busy season.” The firm also provides late night dinners, fresh fruit during the week and a light breakfast on the weekends.
“Busy season is tough. Our professionals are here 6 – sometimes 7 - days a week, making sure we hit all of our clients’ deadlines. The annual pancake breakfast is a small way for us to show our appreciation for all their hard work,” explained Tom Harvey, Director of Human Resources. “We started this event years ago, and I’m not sure anybody will let us change the tradition. It’s a lot of fun for everyone.”
While the breakfast fare may not quite reach the standards of DeLuca’s or Pamela’s Diners, most of the CPAs give the team credit for the effort. After all, it’s hard to complain about a free pancake.
Working the griddles for this year’s breakfast included representatives from the firm’s Human Resources, Operations and Marketing teams, as well as many of their children.
