OUR THOUGHTS ON:

The Heinz Negotiation Academy for Women: Mission Accomplished

Schneider Downs

By Mary Richter

Last year, I had the opportunity to participate in a new program through CMU’s Heinz School.  The Heinz Negotiation Academy for Women was launched as an executive education program to promote leadership skills through a highly practical, intensive study of negotiation.  Indeed, the 5 month course was a blend of case studies, academic presentations, one-on-one coaching sessions along with practical, real life examples.  With renowned instructors from Carnegie Mellon and other prestigious schools, as well as participants from throughout the Northeastern US, the sessions were informative, sometimes challenging, and always productive.  From learning about the neuroscience of brain activity during multitasking to networking with the other cohort members, the class provided each of us an opportunity to extend beyond our “normal” circles and see negotiation and everyday business and personal activities through a different lens.

What a great program and opportunity!  A few of us were recently interviewed about our participation in the program.  Here’s a link to a short video of my comments.
