“Opting Out” - Are you tired of telephone solicitations and junk mail promising everything from pre-approved credit cards to auto insurance discounts?  There are steps you can take to better protect your personal and financial privacy. Here are a couple of the most popular privacy-protection options:

National Do Not Call Registry – Adding your telephone number to the Federal Trade Commission’s do not call registry will protect you from telephone solicitations for 5 years (soon to be made indefinite). https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx.   Note: You are not required to add cell phone numbers to this database, as some widely distributed e-mails suggest. Telemarketers are prohibited from making calls to cell phones, by order of the FCC. For more info: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt107.shtm, see Question #10.

OptOut of Pre-screened/Pre-approved Junk Mail Solicitations – You can add your name to this list for 5 years, indefinitely, or remove your name from the list at any time by visiting: https://www.optoutprescreen.com/?rf=t .
