On Monday June 19, Microsoft unveiled its new tablet PC in Los Angeles. The tablet, named Microsoft Surface, is expected to be available for purchase in the fall of 2012. The tablet will run on the Windows 8 operating system that supports touchscreen functionality. The tablet will weigh less than 2 pounds and will be available in 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB versions. Surface is expected to be a direct competitor to the Apple iPad and Google Android tablets.

Some of the key features of the Surface tablet include:

  • Touchscreen functionality;
  • A built-in keyboard with a trackpad;
  • 10.6-inch high-definition screen (larger than the IPad);
  • A built-in stand;
  • A magnesium case;
  • A digital pen;
