I went to PodCamp and all I got was this t-shirt

Pittsburgh PodCamp 8That’s not totally true.

I attended PodCamp 8 last weekend, and came away with some new ideas, a lot of questions and a few new friends. According to the website, “PodCamp Pittsburgh is a social, new media un-conference,” and this year the sessions largely focused on providing a local source of creative inspiration. More than 200 people filled the Academic Center at Point Park University on a beautiful Saturday, which shows the dedication of both the speakers and the attendees. Sessions covered a range of topics, including The Future of Digital Gifting, Google Glass, Blog to Book and Typography in Web Design.

PodCamp is free to attend, and there is a $25 VIP registration option. The sessions are taught by local professionals with expertise in social media, web design, content development, podcasting, not-for-profits and blogging. I was impressed by the speakers and the sheer amount of information that was shared that day. My only complaint: the event was only one-day (and on a weekend).

PodCamp is an annual event held in the fall. The sessions are recorded and will be available on the site soon. For more immediate access, search for #pcpgh8 on Twitter.
