PITTSBURGH, PA-- Schneider Downs, one of the 60 largest certified public accounting and business advisory firms in the United States, has added a team of five strategic and transaction advisory consultants to the firm’s Consulting and Business Advisory practice. The group joins Schneider Downs from Springer Lawson & Associates (SLA), a boutique consulting firm specializing in managing, transforming and optimizing enterprise value for middle-market clients.
SLA co-founders Tom Springer and Stuart Lawson will be among those joining Schneider Downs. The two firms have previously worked together on joint projects in recent years, which helped identify the opportunity to explore synergies. SLA will sunset operations as part of the movement to Schneider Downs.
“It’s a rare opportunity to add such a collective strength of business expertise and experience at one time,” said Chris McElroy, Co-CEO of Schneider Downs. “Tom, Stuart and their team have excellent in-depth experience in helping their clients operate more efficiently and profitably, and in ensuring that businesses maximize their value in sell-side transactions. That fits in perfectly in conjunction with our rapidly growing Business Advisory and Corporate Finance practices. We know from our previous projects together that this is an excellent cultural fit, as well as an important expansion of our strategic and transaction advisory service offerings.”
Included among those joining Schneider Downs will be:
Through their work with SLA, this integrated team is highly experienced in creating and selling business entities, managing mergers and acquisitions, as well as restructuring and managing workforces. These experiences both augment and expand the consulting services offered by Schneider Downs’ Consulting practice. The team will join the firm on May 1, 2023.
In addition, the SLA team’s roots in Northern Virginia provide Schneider Downs with additional resources to serve existing clients in that region, while also helping the firm expand the offerings in its Washington D.C. office.
“We continue to see growth opportunities in the DC/Northern Virginia market. Tom, Stu and his team have robust contacts and experience in that area, which will help us accelerate our growth plans for the market,” McElroy explained. “This is another step forward in our ongoing Vision 2030 strategic plan.”
Schneider Downs’ Consulting practice offers a broad spectrum of specialties across Financial Advisory, Technology Advisory and Risk Management services. As businesses today face increasingly sophisticated challenges, the need for experienced management consultants has never been more pronounced. The incoming team from Springer Lawson will add both scope and depth to the firm’s existing Business Advisory and Corporate Finance consulting practices.
