Troy J. Fine, senior manager at Schneider Downs, has been named to the advisory panel of CPA Evolution, a joint task force created by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA).
The CPA Evolution initiative aims to transform the CPA licensure model to recognize the rapidly changing skills and competencies the practice of accounting requires today and will require in the future. The ultimate objective will be to introduce a new and updated Uniform CPA Exam in 2024.
The advisory panel is comprised of a broad cross-section of industry leaders, including academics, CPAs, IT Auditors and business analysts. Along with the task force, state CPA societies, state boards of accountancy, academia, firms of all sizes and CPAs in all areas of practice from across the country will be involved in preparing the profession for the future. Their collaboration and support in implementing the new CPA licensure model will help the profession remain strong and relevant while protecting the public interest in a constantly changing business environment.
“We are proud of Troy’s involvement with CPA Evolution, and 100% behind the concept of continuing to update the standards through which our profession trains and licenses our professionals. Our industry continues to transform, and it’s essential that our focus on education and training changes with it,” explained Steven D. Thompson, Co-CEO at Schneider Downs. “It came as no surprise to me that Troy would be asked to serve on this committee, as he has been a tireless advocate for change, and a frequent volunteer on various AICPA committees.”

He has been actively involved with the AICPA in numerous capacities, including service on the association’s SOC Reporting Task Force, CITP Credential Committee and National Accreditation Commission He also is a past recipient of the AICPA’s “IMTA Standing Ovation Award” and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ (PICPA) Young Leader Award.
