Does your business operate on a global scale? Our Risk Advisory Services group has provided internal audit services for locally based companies that are operating both nationally and internationally. Through these internal audits, we have provided recommendations to ensure that each location’s practices are aligned with corporate expectations, therefore, helping our clients gain comfort in their global operations.
Through this work, our team has seen the world. In addition to working a number of U.S. locations, personally, I have had the opportunity to visit Sweden, Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Thailand and Mexico over the past two years. While we are travelling for work (and that is the priority) we make every effort to see the city we’re staying in. I’ve climbed the roof of the Oslo Opera House, visited the Keukenhof tulip gardens in the spring, and spent a day caring for an elephant. The chance to experience opportunities like these is priceless as we learn new customs and see parts of the world that give us new perspective (both professionally and personally).
Not only do we see and learn great things, but we make new friends along the way with the use of our Prime Global affiliate firms. PrimeGlobal is an association of independent accounting firms that operate in more than 500 countries. Auditing at an international level brings new challenges, including understanding local customs and practices. For example, payroll and tax requirements differ by country. We can turn to our PrimeGlobal partners to provide in-country expertise in areas that are unique to your global locations.
In one case, our PrimeGlobal relationship has proven so strong that we have begun an exchange program. Each year a member of our team will spend six weeks working in London with Buzzacott, an affiliate firm. Buzzacott also sends a member of its team to work with us for six weeks during the year. Through this program, we have introduced our international affiliate to our local clients, building international trust.
Growing on a global scale can provide new challenges for your business. Schneider Downs Risk Advisory Services and, if necessary, our Prime Global affiliate firms can help you understand the risks and opportunities at your locations to provide comfort over your international business practices.
