A couple of months ago, I wrote about enterprise software for small/medium-size business (SMB) and introduced Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Financials. This application is one of the building blocks of Microsoft’s Dynamics product line which is being developed as part of its ‘Mobile first, Cloud first’ strategy communicated by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella in February of 2014. Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a set of applications combining ERP and CRM capabilities into a seamless integrated suite of solutions that is available in the cloud and on any device.
In addition to Dynamics 365 for Financials, Microsoft’s other applications include Dynamics 365 for Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Operations, Project Service Automation, and Field Service. These applications can be purchased individually or as a bundled solution. The bundle geared to SMBs is referred to as the Business Edition. Currently, the Business Edition only includes Financials, but according to the roadmap, seamless integration of Dynamics 365 for Sales and Marketing with Financials is currently in development and should be released in the next product update. Product updates have been occurring on a quarterly cadence, and I am expecting many new features to be introduced in the summer and fall. Stay tuned.
